1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback
Purchased in July 30, 1966 as a second car, John Foote Sr. worked for Western Union attached to the USA Military. The Foote family, originally from Pontiac Michigan had just been transferred to North Bay, Ontario, Canada from Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada. A vehicle was needed to travel to North Bay, Ontario from Pontiac, Michigan to find the family a home and did not want to leave our mother in Michigan with 5 children and no car.
John purchased the Fastback on July 30, 1966 from John McAuliffe Ford, Inc. on 630 Oakland Avenue, Pontiac, Michigan, USA for $2760.00 plus $416.28 finance charges.
By 1975 the family Mustang was places in the garage for storage because of a mechanical problem with the brakes. John and his wife had just started their own electronics business and had to care for their family and the repairs to the Mustang had to be delayed. This one owner 1966 Mustang remained in the same garage for 41 years.
In June 2016, twin sons John and James with the assistant of their 84 year old father began the restoration of this classic 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback. During September 2016 and March 2017 the engine and the transmission were rebuilt by John at age 84 year with the assistance of his sons. The body restoration and reassembly was done by Boot Hill Automotive Resurrection, Erin, Ontario. |
